Come è profondo il mare (2026)
The title of this series draws from the late Italian singer Lucio Dalla’s song, where he sings in a tangent on the history of mankind, the freedom of human thought, relating back to the depth of the sea. I would consider this song as the epitome of my experience along the southern Adriatic coast in the heel of Italy’s boot: Puglia. In comparison to the famous Mediterranean Amalfi coast, being in Puglia felt like being on the “dark side of the moon”. Time slowed down, and the stillness of the sea pulled me in. Throughout these photographs taken in Monopoli and Polignano a Mare, I hope to capture this exact feeling that both the sea, and this song, gave me.
